Mixed Materials Recycling
WRL invested £3.2 million into building a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in late 2014 after entering into a 10year contract with our customer to handle and process dry mixed recyclables for re-sale.
It’s rare that recycling collections contain all of one type of recyclable material; so that’s where a mixed materials recycling facility comes in.
Loads are sorted via a number of different means including machine-sorted and human-sorted techniques, and results in waste being segregated into matching loads ready for processing.
Our Sorting facility in Middlesbrough employs approx. 55 staff and operates 24hours per day, 5 days per week.
WRL handle materials from all over the UK receiving materials via bulk load walking floors trailers, we adhere to a quality control procedure and regularly carry out batch sample analysis on the materials to ensure they conform to the agreed parameters of recyclables from each contract.
The design parameters of the automated Sorting equipment is to target a 95% recovery rate of the target material with a 94- 98% purity with a permitted annual throughput of the facility at 320,000 tonnes.
WRL are committed to managing its operations and it’s activities in an environmentally responsible manner, and have therefore committed to the adoption of an Environmental Management System capable of maintaining the standards expected throughout the Industry.
