WRL: Glass Recycling

The plant was commissioned in October 2012 and it produces a glass media from 100 % UK recycled mixed glass cullet which has been collected on local authority kerbside schemes from within the UK. The cullet received on site is a sub 12mm mixed glass which is too small to go for re-melt and would otherwise be used as a low value aggregate or utilised in landfill capping.
WRL Glass Media is an inert product which can be used in filtration applications ranging from leisure swimming pools, aquariums, bore-holes, water treatment works, irrigation systems, aquaculture and in other domestic or industrial water filtration operations. It can be used as an environmentally sustainable direct replacement for traditional shot blast media such as Garnet, Chilled Iron, Olivine, Copper Slag and as an additive in cementation products such as concrete, plaster and filler.

WRL currently have a distribution network in France, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, The Republic of Ireland, Cyprus, and Greece, over the last couple of years we have increased our exports into Italy, Sweden, The Balearics, The Canaries, Australia and Ukraine.
